ABOUT US

Solid is a modern trade union committed to organising workers to take a collective approach to improving workers lives.  Solid trade union was formed following the founders first-hand experience of effective collective action in a wide variety of industries and sectors.

We look to encourage members to become active in their workplaces and beyond.  We recognise the importance of seeking and nurturing organic leaders in order to help drive change – so we offer support and guidance for anyone wanting to become more involved.

Solid recognises the cost-of-living is currently having a significant impact on workers therefore we offer initial low-rate membership fee.  Once we gain enough members in your workplace or department, we will look to gain recognition with your employer in order to start negotiating your terms and conditions*.  The subscription rate will increase to the maximum of £10 per month when the trade union negotiates improvements to your terms and conditions e.g. an annual wage wise.  The subscription rate will also increase to the maximum should you require significant support with any individual employment law matter.

This new and innovative ‘pay as you go’ type approach makes joining Solid affordable and ensures that members get value for their hard-earned money.

*Note if another trade union is already recognised in your workplace we may not be able to gain recognition
